Towards Evenings: The Restoration
A long-term project often requires the artist to collect a large amount of material, conduct extensive research, integrate multiple parts, and test different methods through trial and error over an extended period of time. Every step forward is usually followed by two steps back; this painstaking process tends to distort the artist’s sense of time, which could feel like an indistinguishable mass before the project is complete. By restoring the different stages of creation periodically, the artist is able to mark the critical points and even re-adjust her coordinates accordingly. This parallel project serves as a documentation of the artist’s constant self-adjustment throughout a long-term project.
